Hailsham: Firefighters called to blaze at bungalow

Firefighters were called to Station Road in Hailsham, near Eastbourne, early this morning after the building burst into flames.

Four fire engines attended the incident, along with an aerial ladder platform, with the bungalow left gutted by the blaze.

The roof of the property appeared to have collapsed in the fire, with several windows smashed as the blaze devoured the building.

The fire service warned people to stay away from the area while they dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 1.36am to a residential fire at a bungalow in Station Road, Hailsham.

“Four appliances plus one aerial ladder platform were at the scene.

“All persons are accounted for.”
