Escape To The Chateau star Dick Strawbridge’s son teases new project after split from Channel 4

ESCAPE to the Chateau star Dick Strawbridge’s son teased a new project with his famous dad after Channel 4 ended the show.

The broadcaster cut ties with Dick and Angel in May after an investigation was launched into alleged clashes with show bosses.

Nine seasons of the series aired before the split, where the couple could be seen fixing up an abandoned 19th-century country house.

Now James Strawbridge, Dick’s son from his first marriage, has hinted that he may pair up with his dad for a future endeavour.

He told the Express that he has discussed a potential collaboration with his dad on the phone this week.

The 39-year-old said: “My dad comes and visits us every year in Cornwall, we spend a bit of family time down here.

“Work-wise, I was having a phone call with him this week to see if we can collaborate, and do something fun.

“I think it’s very much if an opportunity arises we might look at doing something but obviously he’s working hard with his own business, he’s been flat out doing weddings [at the chateau].”

The chef went on to add that while a business deal may be in the works, he is more focused on enjoying family time with Dick and his younger siblings.

He joked that “the grandchildren can hang out with him, and I can remind him how old he is.”

Both father and son are in the process of publishing novels, and will be battling it out for a top spot on the book charts.

James also revealed that he teases his dad for being disorganised when it comes to writing.

He added: “I think that we always have a bit of banter around deadlines because he tends to be writing up until midnight the day before the deadline.

“I’m a bit more organised so I always like him to not forget that. But his books are great, quite biographical about his life and Angela and the children.”
